White fillings

Natural-looking, tooth-coloured fillings that bond to your tooth, so less drilling is needed and the tooth stays stronger.

How white fillings work

Fillings replace parts of a tooth lost to decay or damage. White fillings are matched to the shade of your teeth, so they're practically invisible, and they bond to the tooth, which means less drilling and a tooth that's less likely to break.

Under local anaesthetic, we clear the decay, apply a bonding agent, then build up the filling in thin layers, hardening each with a light before shaping and polishing.

Questions and answers

Does it hurt?

No. The area is completely numb before we start. Some people notice brief sensitivity or a dull ache for a short while afterwards.

How long do they last?

Modern white fillings are at least as durable as silver ones, and for medium to large fillings they often last longer because the bond protects the tooth.

Can I get white fillings on the NHS?

Not on back teeth, but we offer a payment plan that we can talk through at your appointment.

How much do they cost?

White fillings on back teeth start from £179.
